Urvoice
Urvoice is a solo performance for voice, body, and multi-channel sound system. It is a polyphonic amalgam of glossolalias, onomatopoeias, pulsed voices, bodily noises, and stratified physical vocalities. In Urvoice, these elements coalesce into a wandering song that is both private and shared: a magmatic mother-sound continually evolving and devolving, bypassing the constraints of language.
The vocals blend hypnotically and asymmetrically, giving life to an archetypal sound—a chant that seems simultaneously more-than-human and less-than-human. The living body’s experience becomes sound poetry, transforming the song into a concert, and the concert into a circular somatic experience shared between performer and audience.
